Bailing time lasts just two or three evenings, this photograph was made on the last of such
evenings just as I was starting to think I wouldn’t find my photograph this year.

The surfers didn’t look too cold on this occasion. I set up my cameras and got lost in the
reflection of sky on beach.

Constantly fighting to keep lenses dry but I came back with a handful of great images.

One of the first panoramic photographs I made, and still one of my favourites.
Most people who visit Gougane Barra come for St Finbarr's Oratory. Next time take my tip and
go walking in the forest park.

Looking up into the tree canopy it seemed to me like everything was reaching for the sunlight.

The monastic settlement on Skellig Michael.
On this visit the clouds were closing in before the boat even docked. By the time I made
it up to the top (with 20kg of camera gear in my backpack) the day was very dull and grey.
I made a series of shots on grainy black & white film.

Close to Jökulsárlón lagoon, Iceland.
These man sized lumps of ice washed out to sea from the Jökulsárlón lagoon and ended
up on the beach. I was there early in the morning and it was a race against the melt.
What a location!

28. The Entrance

Wayland’s Smithy, Oxfordshire, England.
One of the most atmospheric Neolithic sites I’ve visited. Supposedly still inhabited by
the Saxon god of metal working and if you leave your horse tied up to the tree and a few
coins on the ground, on your return you will find your horse with fresh new horse shoes.
Anybody interested in this kind of thing should check out on the legends on
Wayland (Volundr in Norse) and visit this site. It’s a little bit of a trek - especially with 20kg
of cameras on your back but well worth it.

A very wet day, walking along a forest path I snuck in under the trees to shelter from the rain and came across this amazingly colourful scene.
